Climate Relay moves people to act by:
-
•meeting them where they are
-
•providing them with concrete steps they can take to reduce their impact
-
•supporting them through the whole process to make and maintain change
-
•reaching them through the relationships they trust most
-
•promoting peer support networks that increase their likelihood of success
-
•using the power of online social networks and tracking tools to help individuals and groups set goals and be part of a larger movement
Climate Relay uniquely combines a proven methodology for creating behavior change, an outreach campaign that targets people through their personal networks (their church, school, neighborhood association, business, etc.), and powerful web technologies and social networks.
The campaign was to be launched in three northern California communities--Berkeley/East Bay, Santa Cruz County and Sonoma County--where there is a high proportion of individuals and groups likely to be early adopters, along with organizations and community leaders with the capacity to drive a successful grassroots campaign. Through this initial phase, best practices were to be developed to help expand the campaign across California and beyond through partnerships with local governments, utilities, and community based organizations.
